If You Have to Cry Go Outside

Hey all you lovely fashionistas.

I've been very sick the last while, so haven't been able to post much - that and my Macbook was once again in the shop. I will be attending luvngrace presents 'The Magic of bun' tonight for a short while, depending on how long I feel up for it. Including that I'll be posting about the Blanche MacDonald Fashion Design Graduate Fashion show and luvngrace presents 'Jacqueline Conoir Fall 2010 Collection' Fashion show in the next couple days. Today's update will be short and sweet, just to let you all know I'm still alive and fashionable.

I finally bought Kelly Cutrone's 'If You Have to Cry Go Outside and other things your mother never told you'. I emphasize finally because I've been a fan on hers and Peoples Revolution for years, and religiously watch 'Kell on Earth' - she reminds me of myself and someone I'd want to be in about ten years... even if that may be what some people call a 'witch', a 'bitch' or a 'cunt'.

This book was so fantastic, it's my new official guide to life - not only does Kelly share and express similar spiritualistic beliefs as me but she encourages having your own religion (taking parts of different religions that apply to you and your spiritual being and using them all together in your own way), which is something I've always done but always been contradicted by other people telling me 'you have to stick to one religion or this or that' and blah blah blah, of course I never listen to shit like that but it's refreshing to hear an extremely successful, middle-aged business woman and mother reinforce it.

Kelly kind of reminds me of a former boss I had, one of my favorite bosses and a boss a lot of people hated, but those were the people who didn't do their job, we're lazy and rude. The people she had mother/daughter relationships with were those who understood they were there to work but when time allowed they could be friends. For the record, I was one of the daughter-types to this boss, who is still like a work mother to me.

if you want a great book of advice, written in a real, no bullshit way... go buy If You Have To Cry Go Outside and other things your mother never told you for $29.50CAD, it's worth it. I'm gonna refer to this for years to come, thanks Kelly.

While you're out book shopping, grab the new AnOther... fantastic glossies as usual and a 32 page literary section featuring Bjork, Kate Moss and Régine (my favorites) among others.

new posts to come all week so stay tuned.
